BILOXI, Miss. – The Merit Health Biloxi board of trustees has named Landon Hise as the hospital’s new chief executive officer effective January 1, 2022. Hise comes to the hospital from AllianceHealth Woodward, an 87-bed hospital in Oklahoma where he has served as CEO since 2018.
Successes during his tenure at Woodward include the addition of tele-neurology and tele-pulmonology, renovation and expansion of an outpatient rehab center, development of a QuickMed set to open next spring, and recruitment of primary care and specialist clinicians. His leadership gained him recognition as one of The Journal Record’s 2021 “Achievers Under 40 in Oklahoma.”
“Over his 15 years of executive leadership, he has demonstrated an ability to forge strong relationships with physicians and engage with employees, making Landon an excellent choice to lead our hospital,” said Rob Briscoe, chair, Merit Health Biloxi Board of Trustees. “We were impressed by his skills and passion for creating an environment that supports the caregiving team and leads to a great experience for patients.”
Before joining the Woodward hospital, Hise previously served as CEO of 25-bed critical access Cordell Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma, where he began the first tele-hospitalist program in the state and oversaw a renovation to expand ED beds to support an increased volume of patients. The hospital was voted a top workplace for two years and a top rural hospital in the country for three years.
“I’m impressed by the dedication and commitment of the physicians, employees and trustees and look forward to supporting their work,” said Hise. “This is a strong team with many opportunities and it is a privilege to join with them in advancing clinical care and services for the community.”
Hise holds an M.L.S. in Healthcare Law from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach, Alabama, and an associate’s degree in radiologic technology from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He completed an executive training program at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
He has been engaged with the community, serving on the boards of the Woodward Chamber of Commerce, Woodward Industrial Foundation and Woodward Health Services Foundation and as a member of the Woodward Lions Club and Woodward’s First Baptist Church. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
