Diagnostic Imaging
Merit Health Biloxi offers a range of imaging services to provide patients with diagnostic and therapeutic services. The imaging and radiology services teams work with doctors, nurses and other clinicians to deliver care. Digital imaging technology allows doctors to access test results immediately, so treatment can begin more quickly.
The radiology services are comprised of five modalities: diagnostic radiology (X-ray), computed tomography (CT and CAT scan), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), diagnostic ultrasound and nuclear medicine.
Diagnostic imaging procedures are performed using complex equipment. The department is staffed by qualified technologists trained to perform the diagnostic procedures ordered by your physician. The studies are interpreted by radiologists who have been specially trained to “read” the images made by the technologists.
Many diagnostic procedures are available, on a routine basis, throughout the day. In the event of an after-hours emergency, there are technologists on-call. There are some radiology procedures that require special patient preparation prior to performing the exam. These preparations generally begin the evening before your test. If you are to have such an exam, your nurse will explain the procedure and its preparation to you. Some tests require you to receive an intravenous injection of contrast material in order to enhance certain parts of the body on the images.
From ultrasounds and X-rays to complex endoscopic procedures and digital mammography, we offer a variety of imaging services delivered by knowledgeable technologists. We offer:
Trained imaging technologists are certified with advanced registries and are focused on patient safety and comfort.
