Merit Health Biloxi Donates to Loaves and Fishes as Holiday Gift in Honor of its Medical Staff

The holiday season is well-known for being a time of thankfulness and generosity. In true Christmas spirit, Merit Health Biloxi made a donation to charity this December in honor of its medical staff.
“The doctors, surgeons, and nurse practitioners on our medical staff do so much for our hospital and we relish opportunities to thank them,” said Travis Sisson, CEO of Merit Health Biloxi. “They sacrifice their time, spend their days offering their skills and expertise, and contribute kindness, caring, and concern to those who live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.”
This December, the Medical Executive Committee of Merit Health Biloxi voted to donate to Loaves and Fishes, a local charity that has been helping those in need since 1983. Loaves and Fishes was started by a group of churches and social organizations and has since grown into a larger non-profit that offers meals on a regular basis for those who are homeless or in need.
Year-to-date, Loaves and Fishes has provided over 31,000 meals in 2022. The charity also partners with organizations to assure continuity and minimal overlap of services, and organizes volunteers and donors who help them in their mission. Some of those founding volunteers, churches, and organizations continue to volunteer and give to this day.
“We are so grateful for each and every donation, whether monetary, food, or supplies,” said La’Chonda Halbert, administrative assistant at Loaves and Fishes. “Every little bit contributes to our success as we continue to provide nourishment to those in our community who are in need.”
The donation was be gifted to Loaves and Fishes on December 15, 2022 at Merit Health Biloxi, where Travis Sisson, CEO of Merit Health Biloxi presented a donation of $2,000 to Loaves and Fishes.
